TVRT generates all operating income through ticket sales. Through these difficult economic times, our ticket sales have remained stable, but the cost of producing Broadway quality shows has increased resulting in a critical deficit. Making matters worse, as of June 12, 2010, the FCC put into place a cease order for wireless microphones that operate between 698-806 MHz. These frequencies are now being preserved for emergency communications. Unfortunately, all of the wireless equipment used by TVRT operates within this range.
Without the extra funds to purchase new microphones, TVRT will no longer be able produce shows for the community. The cost to purchase 20 units is approximately $22,400. One unit costs $600 for the transmitter and $200 for the receiver (14x800=$11,200) – both parts are required for each functioning microphone. Cases are $25 per unit ($25x20=$500), batteries (for the 2010-2011 season) are $300 per show x 12 children’s camp shows, mainstage and studio theatre shows per year ($3600) plus tax.
The money that we need to replace the microphones will allow us to continue educating and producing children’s camp productions and serve our demographic with family friendly shows for the entire tri-valley area.
